Home Building Mission Trips in Belize

Here at Gateway Mission Training Center we are excited to bring our extensive experience with home-building mission trips into a new partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Belize’s ongoing ministry to the poor and marginalized in this otherwise beautiful country.

Trips will combine meaningful, life-changing, hands-on ministry and service with unparalleled opportunities for team building, fellowship and recreation. Our experienced staff will guide your team as you work in partnership with local churches and ministries to provide decent housing for the neediest members of a variety of Belizean communities. All our teams work with local partners who have long term commitments to the communities in which they live and minister.

Typical trips will combine 4-5 days of construction with 4-5 days of team building, recreation, cultural learning and environmental exploration. Many Belizean families are dramatically under housed, often trying to raise several children in what are little more than leaky, rotting shacks the size of a typical tool shed in a suburban U.S. community. When we put our faith into sacrificial action it can transform us, those we minister to, and the communities both where we live and where we serve .... come and see!

HOSTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ANGLICAN DIOCESE OF BELIZE and other local Belizean ministries. Gateway has a non-negotiable commitment to only work in partnership with local, long term ministries.  This creates a frame work for effective, long term, relational evangelism, empowers local congregations and  bridges the false dichotomy between word and deed within the Church.

While in Belize we will engage the country’s history,  multiple cultures, and various environments. All this equals a very rich and accessible experience of intercultural exchange and learning.

While English is the official language of this former British colony, Creole, Spanish, Maya and Garifuna are also spoken. Other cultural groups include Mennonites, Lebanese, Chinese and East Indians.

Belize features a rich number of ancient Mayan archeological sites throughout the country. Many are readily accessible, well staffed with trained professional guides and feature excellent museums and facilities. They offer a superb look into this ancient culture of the western hemisphere.

On a Gateway trip, opportunities for fellowship and recreation abound!

DURING THE PROJECT: We build team relationships by working in small groups and by having daily devotions and debriefing sessions.

AFTER THE PROJECT..... recreational and team building opportunities include: Jungle tours by raft, canoe and zip line, an excellent zoo featuring local fauna, bird watching opportunities, a vast array of archeological sites and tours, abundant local art fairs and galleries, snorkeling, skin diving, fishing (deep sea and flats), para-sailing, para-boarding, jet skis, and tour boats, as well as plenty of excellent food, beautiful scenery, and pleasant spots for simply enjoying intimate conversation or a good book.
