Gateway Mission Training and Conference Center was founded in 1998 to provide a hands on mission training environment located on the US/Mexico border in the El Paso/Cd Juarez metro area. Gateway is a transdenominational minstry- we value the unique distinctives of each denomination while encouraging individuals and churches to work together in cross cultural partnerships that seek to advance the Kingdom of God rather than our denominational preferences.
Over the past 12 years we have hosted well over 240 short term mission outreaches from a variety of churches. These teams have housed over 200 at risk families, conducted dozens of VBS programs, constructed churches, schools, orphanges, community centers and rectories, and seen many persons come to a new or much deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our programs have also included opportunities for students over 18 years of age to join our staff as summer interns. We have had over 40 interns over the years. Several have stayed on and joined our staff in varying capacities. We have also sponsored GAP years for a number of students which have included language learning coupled to multiple service and learning opportunities with partner minsitries.
In response to the rising drug violence along the US/Mexico border we began hosting trips to Belize in 2010. To date we have hosted 3 home building outreaches in Belize with several more scheduled for the coming year. Belize is a relatively undeveloped country with a tremenedous need for adequate housing among its working poor. It is also a very safe place with great opportunities for fellowship activities for misision teams. Belize has become our primary destination for family and youth group trips.
